Trust in the Lord with all your heart

Our life on this earth is passing through many trials and difficulties. We are not able to explain or understand many things that are happening with us and around us. We do not know what is going to happen in the future. No one is able to control everything that happens in their life and around. In midst of all these things our only hope is in the Almighty God.

In Proverb 3:5 God is commanding us “Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding”. Many believers will come to the Lord when all other ways are closed. They trust the Lord only half -heartedly. Lack of knowledge of Lord and faith in Him leads them to go with their on understanding.
But here the Holy Spirit is commanding us to trust the Lord with all our heart. Also we should not lean on our own understanding. Trusting God and leaning on our understanding cannot go together.

Trust is a great word. Our trust in anything depends on how much confidence we have in that. We trust people when we have confidence in them. We put our money in a bank when we have confidence in that bank. It is interesting to know that the center verse of the bible says It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man (Psalms 118:8). Real humility will lead us to trust in the Lord. Jesus is the humblest person that ever walked on this earth. He trusted His father for everything and anything. We see the helpless little children always trusting their parents. Also a weak person trusts some strong people.

If we trust the Lord with all our heart we will be a blessed person and fiery trials will not affect us. See what God is saying in Jeremiah 17:7-8 “Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD And whose trust is the LORD. “For he will be like a tree planted by the water, That extends its roots by a stream And will not fear when the heat comes; But its leaves will be green, And it will not be anxious in a year of drought Nor cease to yield fruit.

When everything goes smoothly we do not know where our trust is? But when real trials and tests comes; it will show us our real condition. So it is always better to trust in the Lord. We have great examples like Jesus, His apostles and Old Testament saints like Daniel, David, Joseph, Moses etc., whose life challenges all of us to lead a life trusting the Lord whole heartedly.

See the words of David in Psalm 27:1-3 The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the defense of my life; Whom shall I dread? When evildoers came upon me to devour my flesh, My adversaries and my enemies, they stumbled and fell. Though a host encamp against me, My heart will not fear; Though war arise against me, In spite of this I shall be confident.

Sons of Korah encourage us from their life in Psalms 46:1-3 God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change And though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea; Though its waters roar and foam, Though the mountains quake at its swelling pride.

Proverb 3:6. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight. Everyone wants their travel to be smooth and their path to be straight. Here Holy Spirit is showing us the secret of such a life- In All our ways acknowledge (thankful to) God. When we trust Lord with all our heart we know that Lord is the one keeping and protecting us. So we must acknowledge and be thankful to Him for everything. Then He will make our paths straight.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 – in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus

Trust God with all our heart, acknowledge Him in all our ways and remain thankful to Him all the time then He will make our paths straight.

May God help all of us to trust Him with all our heart, acknowledge Him in all our ways and remain thankful to Him in all coming days.
