How To Stay Unpolluted From The World

1 John 5:18-19, ‘We know that no one who is born of God sins; but He who was born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him. We know that we are of God, and that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.’ We see here that, no one who is born of God, practices sin. A child of God cannot continue to sin. God has redeemed us from this evil world and kept us in the world where we have to live a holy life.

We have to keep ourselves from falling, God is able to keep us from falling (Jude 1-24). It is a very blessed and a wonderful life of child of God. Satan cannot touch us, we need to keep ourselves from falling, and this is our primary responsibility as a child of God.  V18- We know that no one who is born of God sins, V-19 – We know that we are of God and Verse 20 says, we know that we are in Him who is true. We should believe God is able to keep us from falling, so Satan cannot touch us.

James 1:27, we read “keep oneself unstained by the world’. Let us keep ourselves unstained, unspotted, unpolluted from the world and worldly things. This World is polluted. Many times, we forget that our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 3:16, ‘Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? ‘. Our body is the temple of God. We also see this in 1 Corinthians 6:19,20, ‘Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price: therefore, glorify God in your body.’

We are very careful to keep us protected from the Corona virus. We are asked to practice SMS – Use Sanitizer, Mask and Social–distancing. How much more we need to be careful in keeping ourselves, to not to get affected, by this world. Let us be very careful in our Spiritual matters. There are three main things we need to pay attention to in order to stay unpolluted from the world.

  1. Keep Your Love burning

Three areas God shows us this in,

  • Jude 1:21, ‘keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.’
  • Matthews 24:12, ‘Because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.
  • Leviticus 6:13, ‘Fire shall be kept burning continually on the altar; it is not to go out.’

Our Love, the fire always needs to be burning. Never grow cold in love.

  1. Keep Your Tongue pure

Are we glorifying or grieving the Holy Spirit, with our tongue? Keep our tongues from evil. God is showing us to keep our tongues pure in

  • Proverbs 18:21, ‘Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.’
  • James 3:2, 5-10, ‘For we all stumble in many ways. If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body as well’, ‘So also the tongue is a small part of the body, and yet it boasts of great things. See how great a forest is set aflame by such a small fire! And the tongue is a fire, the very world of iniquity; the tongue is set among our members as that which defiles the entire body, and sets on fire the course of our life, and is set on fire by hell. For every species of beasts and birds, of reptiles and creatures of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by the human race. But no one can tame the tongue; it is a restless evil and full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the likeness of God; from the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be this way’. We need to be more serious about using our tongues.
  • Matthews 12:36, 37, ‘But I tell you that every careless word that people speak, they shall give an accounting for it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” Every careless word we speak, we will give an account to God for it. Keep our tongues pure always.
  • Colossians 4:6, Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person’.
  • Proverbs 8:8, “All the utterances of my mouth are in righteousness; There is nothing crooked or perverted in them.

Let us desire this.

  1. Keep Your Thoughts pure.

We should be careful to avoid ruling of evil thoughts ruling our heart.

  • Matthews 9:3-4, ‘And some of the scribes said to themselves, “This fellow blasphemes.” And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, “Why are you thinking evil in your hearts?’ Br. Zac illustrates it this way – If every thought of our heart and mind against other human were to be displayed on our forehead, how careful we will be in our speech and thoughts
  • 2 Corinthians 10:5, We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ,’ When we see we are lacking in these areas, acknowledge our own weakness.  Due to pride we fall in many areas. Do not trust in ourselves, Trust in God. God wants us to come back with a repentance heart, never to be under condemnation. When we fall but rise up with a repentant heart. God will help us. Remember from where we have fallen and repent.
  • Proverbs 24:16, ‘For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises again, But the wicked stumble in time of calamity.’ We read Righteous man fall seven times but rises again, he is not laying there but rises again and come to God, God is able to keep us from falling. Br. Zac illustrates it this way – if we are humble there will not be any falling down, as we are already at the ground zero level. Be humble always and God will keep us from falling.
  • Psalms 19:14, ‘Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my rock and my Redeemer.’ This should be our desire and prayer. Let us be a fragrant aroma to our Lord, every time and everywhere we are.
  • Psalms 41:11, ‘By this I know that You are pleased with me, because my enemy does not shout in triumph over me.’ The evil one will not triumph over us, as we belong to our God and He is pleased with us. Let us have this wonderful life.  May God help us to live a triumph life in Jesus Christ.

May God bless us.
