Keeping Our Vision Clear

What we are going to achieve in life depends on what we are looking for & how we see it. Our vision is very important in our life. Depending on how they see it, different people will have different conclusions about the same thing or the same incident. Jesus told His disciples in Luke 11: 34,35 ” 34 The eye is the lamp of your body; when your eye is clear, your whole body also is full of light; but when it is bad, your body also is full of darkness.35 Then watch out that the light in you is not darkness.” Here Jesus is talking about our spiritual life. Whether our life is in light or darkness will depend on our eyes. If our eye is clear, then we will be in light. If our eye is clouded, then we will be in darkness. In verse 35 Jesus is giving us a great warning “Then watch out that the light in you is not darkness”. Through Jesus Christ, God gave only light in us. But Satan is trying to make us completely dark by covering our spiritual eye. The Holy Spirit discloses this great truth in 2 Cor 04:03,04 “ And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing,4 in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” So with the help of Holy Spirit, we should see what God wants to show us and then our life will be full of light.
Jesus is the only one who walked through the earth without sin. This means His life was full of light and darkness could not touch Him. The Apostle John recorded this in John 01:04,05 “ In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.5 The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.”. So Jesus is our true example and light for our life.

“Suffering in the flesh by saying NO to our lusts and doing God’s will is the way to keep our vision clear.”

Many believers have a different understanding about Jesus’s life on this earth. They all agree that He lived on this sin filled earth without sin. But most of them think the reason for such a life was because that He is God. But the Holy Spirit recorded in His word very clearly about this in Heb 05:07-09 “ In the days of His flesh, He offered up both prayers and supplications with loud crying and tears to the One able to save Him from death, and He was heard because of His piety. 8 Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered. 9 And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation.” Here the Holy Spirit is showing us very clearly how Jesus lived on this earth without sin. Also by such a life Jesus became the source of eternal salvation to all those who obey Him. This is the only way for a believer to have a holy life on this earth. This is how we keep our spiritual eyes clear. Sin is the only thing which can bring spiritual death to anyone. Let us follow the example of Jesus to become free from sin.
Most of the believers are deeply touched by the agony Jesus had on the cross and on the way to cross. But they are not at all aware of the cross Jesus was carrying every day in His earthly life. Through Apostle Peter, the Holy Spirit is instructing us to arm ourselves by this to become free from the lust of men. 1 Peter 04:01,02 “ Therefore, since Christ has suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same purpose, because he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, 2 so as to live the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.” To keep our vision clear we have to do the will of God and become free from the lust of our flesh. When any one submits to the lust of his flesh, he falls in sin and then to spiritual death. James 01:14,15 “ 14 But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust.15 Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death.” So suffering in the flesh by saying NO to our lusts and doing God’s will is the way to keep our vision clear.
Finally to keep our vision clear we should see what Jesus did for us. Rom 06:04-07 “ Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.5 For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection, 6 knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; 7 for he who has died is freed from sin.” By the death of Jesus Christ our old self which leads us to slavery of sin is dead and buried. By the resurrection of Jesus Christ we can walk in the newness of life. That means that in Jesus Christ we are completely free from the power of sin. By the death of Jesus Christ, He set us free from the laws which made alive the sin in us. Rom 07:04 “ Therefore, my brethren, you also were made to die to the Law through the body of Christ, so that you might be joined to another, to Him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God.”
May God help all of us to have clear spiritual Vision and thus keep our body full of light.
